I’ve been elected as an At-Large member of the Linguistic Society of America Executive Committee for a three-year term starting in January! I’m looking forward to serving my field and learning more about how the professional society sausage is made.
New blog: From the DUS Desk
As the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) in the Georgetown University Department of Linguistics, I help guide undergraduates through our Linguistics program and regularly draw their attention to jobs and other opportunities for LING majors. It occurs to me that some of this information might be interesting to people besides the declared majors on my email list - for example, potential linguistics majors at Georgetown and elsewhere, prospective students, and their family members. Follow my occasional posts here!
Chair of the new LSA Social Media Committee
The Linguistic Society of America has a new Social Media Committee, and I am the Chair of it. We’re less than a week past our Twitter Debut but so far it’s been a really smooth and fun experience working with this group. I’ve got some ideas I’m excited about implementing, too. Stay tuned on Twitter and Facebook (and to a lesser extent, LinkedIn)!
